What kind of winch groups come on the truss screed?
Allen offers both manual winches and a hydraulic winch system.
(For manual winches you will also need the steel end handle group.)
How long will the winch group travel?
Both manual winches and hydraulic winches come with 100 ft of cable already installed.
Do you offer an easy way to transport a truss screed on a jobsite?
Yes, we offer a wheeled cart for easy movement.
What option does Allen offer for running on pipe rails?
We offer the cupped wheels on our Bridge Deck End Brackets.
What is the blue and red thread locker used for?
The blue thread locker is for the engine shaft to the flex shaft and the red is for the flex shaft to the vibe head.

How often should you grease core and casing?
50-100 hours of use with the EP2 Lithium grease

How to switch ends with the power unit?
Take the cap off one side and move it to the other side and put the opposite thread coupler on.
How do I tighten inserts on the tube?
Take a rod and hold the center shaft then use a wrench to Torq it down until it compresses the rubber into the tube.
What size is the material of the tube made from?
4.5" material
What is the maximum length of tube fro an RTF?
20 ft is the maximum length roller tube that you can get
What type of RTF units does Allen Engineering offer?
We offer a hydraulic powered unit and an engine driven unit.
What type of engine comes on your engine powered RTF?

Do you offer a replacement clutch for the engine driven RTF?
Yes, the part number is 064899.
Wheel Buggies
Tracks are not rotating properly on one side
1. Check track tension
2. Check belt tension
Dump seems slow or no dump at all on my track buggy
1. Check belt tension on the pump
2. Check the pressure on the pump and adjust to 2000 psi
3. Make sure that no air is in the lines
Hydraulic oil overflows the tank on my track buggy
1. Make sure the correct amount of oil is in the tank
2. Make sure the strainer in the hydraulic tank is not clogged

What should I check daily on my unit?

Every 100 hours
How do I set the belt tension on my AT16?

What is the max MPH my buggy goes?
All buggies are set with a max speed of 6-7 MPH from the factory
What happens if I put the wrong oil in my hydraulic system?
Your system will underperform and struggle with dumping when loaded
Dump cylinder won't dump or is slow on my wheel buggy
1. Check there is no air in the lines
2. Check that the pressure is accurate on the dump valve. This pressure should read 1500 psi.
Engine is growling when throttle is lowered to idle on my wheel buggy
Check that the coupler and jaw element is seated properly and not damaged
Wheel buggy creeps while idle
Adjust the throttle lever bolt under the throttle lever on the pump's left or right until it idles without creeping
What oil goes in the hydraulic tank in the wheel buggy?
10w30 Motor Oil
How many times can you charge the battery of the AW16-B before it needs replaced?
2000 cycles
How long does the AW16-B take to charge?
4 - 6 hours
How long does a charge on the AW16-B last?
4 - 8 hours, depending on conditions
Magic Screed
My new Magic Screed® engine is smoking and NOT running properly
The engine is too full of oil. Lay the machine flat to check and install oil.
Magic Screed® blade is cracking
1. Check to make sure the plastic blade spacers are installed between the blade and the unit.
2. Check for loose bolts.
Magic Screed® is not vibrating
1. Make sure the engine is seated to the radius on the cone housing.
2. Check drive axle is not broken.
3. Check lower unit is turning freely and then change the shaft assembly.
What size of blades can I get for my Magic Screed?
4ft to 16 ft, in 2 ft intervals
When I order Vibro Mounts, do they come in 1 or 2 quantity?
They come as 1 per.
My hand grips are missing. Can I replace these?
Yes, please order 20012 qty 2 for complete machine.
Can I order the throttle cable and handle as an assembly?
Yes, the part number is DA4050.
The rubber cover on the bottom of my unit is missing. Should I replace this?
Yes, this keeps moisture and debris away from the counter weight. Please order 10009-2 cover and 20040 tie rap.
Truss Screeds
How much will my Allen Truss Screed crown?
1. Engine-driven series, zero without the crowning device.
2. Use Flex Coupler Kit or U-Joint Kit for crowns up to ¼” per foot.
3. Use Crown Invert Bracket for crowns over ¼” per foot.
What is the max length you can run on screed?
The max length is 65 ft
What is the max length of screed you can use with a 9 hp engine?
Up to 42.5 ft, anything longer will need the 11 hp engine
